SCR Speed Controller for AC Motors - 220V 10kW, with remote control

Our SCR (thyristor) controllers provide smooth, fully variable speed control by adjusting the output voltage of the 220V AC supply — similar to a ceiling fan regulator or light dimmer.

Important Compatibility Notes

Works well with:

  • Permanent Split Capacitor (PSC) motors
  • Universal (brushed) motors
  • Most single-phase motors found in small household appliances and power tools

Does NOT work with:

  • Capacitor-start (CS) motors — the most common type of single-phase motor, easily identified by their large starting capacitor
  • Energy-saving CFLs, LED bulbs, or any devices with electronic ballasts/drivers
  • Any load that requires clean sine-wave power or precise frequency control

Note: The load must be connected for the controller to operate and regulate voltage properly.

Performance Characteristics

  • Speed control is most effective in the upper half of the dial (typically 60–100% of rated speed).
  • For smooth operation at lower speeds, we recommend choosing a controller with higher power rating than the minimum calculated requirement.
  • Excellent for resistive loads (heating/lighting) and good for lightly inductive loads (fans, pumps).

How to Choose the Right Model

For resistive loads (heaters, incandescent lights): Multiply the load current by 3. Example: 2.2 kW at 220V ≈ 10A → 10A × 3 = 30A → Choose 40A+ model.

For inductive loads (motors, fans, pumps): Multiply the load current by 5. Example: 5 kW at 220V ≈ 22.7A → 22.7A × 5 ≈ 113.5A → Choose 113A+ or higher model.
