AC Motor Speed Controller - SCR 220V/3.8kW

Our SCR (thyristor) voltage regulators provide reliable, economical, and compact speed control for AC motors!

These variable AC voltage SCR regulators are specifically manufactured for vibratory feeders, fans, pumps, and heating and lighting devices. All models feature a single-phase AC input and fully variable AC output.

SCR regulators adjust the output AC power voltage similarly to controlling a ceiling fan or a light dimmer. These SCR regulators can be suitably used with single-phase AC motors, which they adjust the speed of. They can also be used with resistive loads, such as for lighting.

It is very important to realize that these regulators DO NOT WORK with capacitor-start motors - the common motor used in single-phase applications. Capacitor-start motors are not designed to run at varying speeds. Visually, these motors have a large bulge at the top or side where the motor capacitor is located, which prevents any attempts to slow them down.

Dimming of energy-saving bulbs, LED lights, and other devices containing electronics is not possible!

Motors regulated using these SCR controllers include motors with permanently attached start capacitors (PSC), permanent split capacitor (PSC), shaded pole, and universal motors. These are single-phase types of motors where speed can be regulated using SCR controllers. However, this application may have certain limitations. Our SCR regulators can control most motors of small household appliances and handheld power tools.

The SCR controller does not provide a wide range for speed control - regulation is likely found in the upper half of the setting range. To move the motor before it slows down, additional power from the SCR controller may be required.

How to choose the right regulator:

For pure resistive loads, multiply the operating current by three. Example: (2.2kW/220V) * 3 = 30, so the most suitable model will be 40A+

For inductive loads (motors), multiply the operating current by five. Example: (5kW/220V) * 5 = 22, so the most suitable model will be 113A+
