The ANAVI Light pHAT is an open-source hardware and expansion board for Raspberry Pi that controls a 12V RGB LED strip. The board also supports sensors for light, temperature, humidity, gesture recognition, and motion detection.

The ANAVI Light pHAT is fully compatible with the popular open-source home automation platform Home Assistant. Thanks to the ANAVI application, the ANAVI Light pHAT is seamlessly integrated into Home Assistant as an MQTT JSON Light component.

The ANAVI Light pHAT was designed using the free and open-source application KiCAD. All source files are available in our GitHub repository. All boards will be manufactured locally in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Getting started with this expansion board is easy, no soldering is required. A comprehensive user manual will be provided with detailed steps on how to use the ANAVI Light pHAT on a Raspberry Pi running Raspbian GNU/Linux distribution.

ANAVI Light pHAT

 

The ANAVI Light pHAT officially supports the PIR motion sensor, as well as the following I2C modules:

  • BH1750 light sensor
  • HTU21D temperature and humidity sensor
  • APDS-9960 RGB color and gesture detection sensor

You can also connect any other I2C sensor, but you will need to manage their software integration.

 


ANAVI Light pHAT

 

The PIR motion sensor allows automatic lighting when someone walks by. The temperature and humidity sensor can be utilized to create a weather station as a secondary function of your Raspberry Pi. The gesture detection sensor is a great addition for defining custom hand gestures to control lighting or simply to create a modern version of Aladdin’s magic lamp.
