FR10050 22V-100V 50A PWM Speed Controller for DC Motors

Compact and easy-to-use PWM speed controller with full bridge functionality for any brushed motor.

Suitable for use in carts, trailers, electric bicycles, go-karts, and other industrial applications.

Simply connect the battery and motor to the M6 terminals, set the maximum current using the blue trimmer potentiometer, and you're done. Speed adjustment is achieved through a potentiometer, a forward/reverse direction switch, and the option to use your own signal switch.

Advantages over other motor PWM controllers:

  • Includes 4 low-resistance 3mOhm power MOSFETs, ensuring that the continuous current of 50A corresponds to a true continuous current of 50A.
  • Short-term peak current of 100A; continuous load of 50A.
  • Current limit can be set between 0–50A. This feature is crucial for motor drivers as fuses are too slow to protect against peak loads. Starting current can be 2x to 5x the rated current and can be up to 15x greater when changing direction. This controller can handle these rapid changes.
  • Peak current 90A for 5 seconds, 75A for 15 seconds, 60A for 1 minute. The controller automatically reduces current to not exceed 50A and resets the peak load regulation for future use. (Useful for go-karts or other vehicles.)
  • Full bridge topology allows for electronic reversal of rotation direction.
  • 16 large 470uF capacitors.
  • High-current M6 screws allow for the use of robust terminal rings for professional connections.
  • 20kHz switching frequency.
  • Duty cycle: 0–95%
  • 4 programmable control modes with a red switch:
    1. 0–5V analog input + direction switch
    2. Analog joystick mode (potentiometer increases or decreases speed forward or backward)
    3. PWM input + direction signal (e.g., PWM signal from ARM, PIC, Arduino, or PLC)
    4. RC receiver PWM signal.
  • Using a potentiometer for speed control is not necessary. A PLC output or other control signals, or PWM signal can be used to control speed and direction.
  • Adjustable acceleration limit in the range of 0–20 seconds is suitable for go-karts or other vehicles where you wish to limit acceleration.
  • Universal voltage input between 22–100V DC.
  • Overheat protection: 70°C/158°F

How to control motor speed using this controller?

Using a potentiometer, you can finely adjust the maximum current for the motor.

Example: For a 500W 24V DC motor with a rated current of 20A, you can set the current limit to 25–30A.

This way, you can protect the motor and PWM controller from overheating or overload. The controller also includes overheat protection – it monitors the temperature of the heatsink. If the temperature exceeds the maximum, the controller will shut down.

Motor speed can be easily regulated in the range of 0–95% using a potentiometer connected to the terminals. The length of the potentiometer cable is not restricted.
