This powerful microcontroller (with an instruction execution time of 200 nanoseconds) is easy to program (only 35 single-word instructions) and is based on CMOS FLASH technology. The high architecture of the Microchip PIC® is embedded in an 18-pin package and is backward compatible with PIC16F628, PIC16C62XA, PIC16C5X, and PIC12CXXX devices. The PIC16F628A features an internal oscillator frequency of 4 MHz, 128 bytes of EEPROM, capture/compare/PWM functionality, USART, 2 comparators, and a programmable voltage reference, making it ideal for analog/integrated level applications in the automotive industry, industrial equipment, home appliances, and consumer applications.
