Speed Controller for Series AC Motors - SCR 220V/2kW

Our SCR (thyristor) voltage regulators provide reliable, efficient, and compact control of AC motor speed!

These variable SCR voltage regulators are specifically designed for vibrating feeders, fans, pumps, as well as heating and lighting systems. All models are equipped with a single-phase AC input and fully variable AC output.

SCR regulators adjust the output AC voltage similarly to ceiling fan controls or lighting dimmers. These regulators can be suitably used with single-phase AC motors to modify speed. They can also be used with resistive loads, such as lighting.

It is very important to understand that these regulators DO NOT WORK with capacitor-start motors, which are commonly used in single-phase applications. Capacitor-start motors are not designed to operate at varying speeds. Visually, these motors have a large bulge at the top or side where the motor capacitor is located. The motor capacitor prevents any attempts to slow down.

Dimming energy-saving bulbs, LED lights, and other electronic devices is not possible!

Motors for which speed is regulated using these SCR regulators are permanently split capacitor (PSC) motors, permanent split phase (PSP) motors, shaded pole motors, and universal motors. These are all single-phase types of motors where speed can be regulated using SCR regulators – although these applications may have certain limitations. With our SCR regulators, most small household appliance motors and handheld power tools can be controlled.

SCR regulators do not provide a wide range for speed control – the regulation is likely to be in the upper half of the setting range. To move the motor before slowing down, power to the SCR regulator needs to be increased.

How to choose the right regulator:

For purely resistive loads, multiply the operating current by three. Example: (2.2kW/220V) * 3 = 30, so the most suitable model will be 40A+.

For inductive loads (motors), multiply the operating current by five. Example: (5kW/220V) * 5 = 22, so the most suitable model will be 113A+.
