NanoPi R1S-H3, a beautiful, compact, pocket-sized "weapon"

NanoPi R1S ("R1S") is an open-source IoT ARM board designed and developed by FriendlyElec. It comes in two models, one based on the Allwinner 64-bit quad-core A53 SoC H5, and the other based on the Allwinner quad-core A7 SoC H3. Both models feature 512MB DDR3 RAM, two Gbps Ethernet ports, a built-in 2.4G Wi-Fi module, etc. Both utilize a TF card. The USB on both models can be expanded to connect a 4G module or can work with USB cameras.

FriendlyElec has ported the OpenWrt system to the NanoPi R1S and provides a building system for assembly and further modifications. After applying a few simple configurations, it can function as a router. Users can easily integrate additional elements into it and use it in various applications, gaming accelerators, personal NAS applications, remote controls, smart home gateways, DIY projects, etc.

Dual Gbps Ethernet Ports

NanoPi R1S has two Gbps Ethernet ports: one is a direct extension from the SoC, and the other is converted from USB2.0.

For the R1S-H3 model, the direct Gbps Ethernet has a TX value of 672Mbps and an RX value of 930Mbps. The converted Gbps Ethernet has a TX value of 320Mbps and an RX value of 334Mbps. Wi-Fi has a TX value of 84Mbps and an RX value of 76.6Mbps.

For the R1S-H5 model, the direct Gbps Ethernet has a TX value of 851Mbps and an RX value of 943Mbps. The converted Gbps Ethernet has a TX value of 327Mbps and an RX value of 340Mbps. Wi-Fi has a TX value of 86.6Mbps and an RX value of 78.4Mbps.

NanoPi R1S comes with a small yellow plastic case that is elegantly designed, carefully painted, and made from completely eco-friendly materials. You won’t want to miss this beautiful, practical, and portable accessory.

Besides FriendlyWRT, NanoPi R1S also works with Ubuntu Core and Armbian.

Note: H3 and H5 are mutually compatible, hence both R1S models have the same design.
